The Complete Guide to HTA Jet Aerator Installation and Operation for Efficient Wastewater Aeration

As core equipment in the wastewater treatment process, the correct installation and standardized operation of jet aerators directly affect their working performance, service life and aeration effect. The HTA Jet Aerator from Jiangyin Hetai is adapted to various complex wastewater working conditions with its excellent product performance. Only by following scientific installation procedures, standardized operation methods and reasonable storage requirements can the equipment’s performance be fully exerted. Combining with the official manual of Hetai HTA Jet Aerator, this article collates a full-process practical guide for the equipment from storage, installation to operation.
I. Do a Good Job in Pre-storage and Arrival Inspection to Lay a Solid Foundation for Equipment Use
The good condition of the equipment starts with arrival and storage, which is the premise to avoid equipment damage and ensure subsequent use. First of all, immediately check the packaging and internal products after the equipment arrives. If any damage to the packaging or equipment is found, it is necessary to feed back to Hetai Company or the transportation company within 3 working days after delivery. The product warranty only applies to the original and undamaged packaging, and Hetai Company reserves the right to inspect for damage.
In terms of storage, the HTA Jet Aerator should be stored in a dry and ventilated room with the original packaging intact at all times, and protective measures should be taken: prevent the equipment from freezing, overheating and direct sunlight, strictly prohibit storing the equipment near flammable and explosive items, and avoid any operations that may damage the equipment and its packaging. If the equipment is stored on the construction site (from arrival to installation/operation), the storage time should not be too long. If long-term storage is required, be sure to consult Hetai Company for professional protective measures to prevent equipment damage caused by improper storage.
During transportation, Hetai uses wooden boxes for professional packaging. If there are specific packaging customization needs, you can communicate directly with Hetai Company. Professional packaging can avoid bump damage during transportation to the greatest extent.

II. Follow the Scientific Installation Process and Control Details to Ensure Installation Quality
The installation of the HTA Jet Aerator needs to follow the steps of “Preparation – Leveling – Installation”, and control key details to ensure the equipment is installed in place and avoid adverse effects on subsequent use due to improper installation.
- Installation Preparation: Thoroughly remove debris such as stones, metal fragments and wood blocks in the aeration tank before installation to prevent debris from damaging the equipment or clogging the nozzles. Standard stainless steel round pipes or plastic pipes (such as ABS, PVC, etc.) are recommended for the equipment connection pipes, and the diameter of each connecting branch pipe must strictly match the specifications of the HTA equipment. To ensure the cleanliness of the pipeline system, it is recommended to remove debris that may accumulate in the pipeline by air blowing or water flushing to avoid pipeline clogging affecting the aeration effect.
- Equipment Leveling: During installation, ensure that the jet port of the HTA aeration arm is 400mm-550mm away from the tank bottom, which is the key to ensuring the jet aeration effect. The water inlet flange and air inlet flange of the equipment shall be clamped and installed with the corresponding pipes respectively, and the equipment shall be fixed by fixing the pipes to avoid equipment shaking and damage during aeration.
- Formal Installation: The connection ends of HTA are the water inlet flange port and air inlet flange port, all of which adopt loose sleeve lined plastic flanges of international standard specifications. Align the equipment flange with the fixed flange position of the pipe, directly dock them, and complete positioning and fixing. The installation sequence must strictly follow the bottom-up order of water inlet pipe → HTA jet aerator → air pipe to avoid excessive reserved space and equipment damage caused by forced pulling. At the same time, the environment in the aeration tank is complex, so the anti-corrosion work of pipes and brackets must be strictly controlled to prevent the service life of pipes and equipment from being affected by inadequate anti-corrosion.
III. Standardize Operation and Daily Maintenance to Give Full Play to Equipment Performance
After proper installation, correct start-up and daily operation are the core to ensure aeration effect and extend equipment service life. It is necessary to strictly follow the operation specifications and control key operation points.
(1) Start-up Operation: Control Details and Conduct Leak Detection and Trial Operation
- Before start-up, remove debris such as stones, wood blocks and iron blocks in the aeration tank again, and shorten the time interval between equipment installation and water inlet as much as possible. If water inlet is not possible temporarily, do not carry out operations that may damage the equipment such as painting, welding and cement sealing near the aeration system or on the top of the tank to prevent foreign objects from falling and damaging the HTA.
- To check the air tightness of the equipment, inject clean water into the tank (drinking water is not required, but there must be no large amount of silt or debris in the water), and the water level must be 20cm above the top of the HTA. First, ventilate for 5-10 minutes to check for obvious leaks, then close the valve and carefully recheck for hidden small leaks. Minor leaks can be eliminated by small air volume. If a large air flow appears at a certain position except the jet port of the HTA, it is mostly a pipeline leak or aerator damage, which needs to be repaired in time.
- If normal start-up and operation cannot be carried out directly after leak detection, raise the water level to at least 1 meter above the aerator to prevent the equipment from being affected by ultraviolet radiation and extreme hot or cold weather. If the equipment is shut down for a long time, it is also necessary to consider supplementing the water lost by evaporation. When the ambient temperature is below freezing point, the water level should be controlled at about 200mm above the aerator to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.
- Before officially measuring the oxygen transfer performance or putting the equipment into formal operation, it is necessary to operate it under the maximum design air flow rate and circulating water volume for 1 week (at least 3 days) to allow the equipment to complete trial operation running-in and ensure the stability of subsequent formal operation.
(2) Daily Operation: Precise Regulation and Avoid Operation Taboos
- In daily operation, the air flow rate can be adjusted to maintain the dissolved oxygen demand of the aeration tank, but it should be noted that the circulating water volume of HTA must be adjusted accordingly while adjusting the air flow rate. Because the change of air-water ratio directly affects the service area and oxygen transfer rate of the equipment, only a reasonable air-water ratio can ensure the aeration effect.
- Control the temperature and medium requirements of the operating environment: the wastewater temperature should be maintained between 5℃ (41℉) and 40℃ (104℉), and the air temperature at the air inlet of HTA must not exceed 60℃. If it is necessary to reoperate at a higher ambient temperature, please consult Hetai Company in advance. The particle size at the water inlet of the equipment shall not exceed 5mm, and strict precautions shall be taken to prevent the jet nozzle from being clogged and affecting the aeration effect.
- If it is necessary to operate the equipment in a special environment beyond the provisions of the manual, it is recommended to consult the professional technicians of Hetai Company in advance to obtain a targeted operation plan and avoid equipment damage or performance degradation caused by unsuitable environment.
